Matt Ownby

Matthew A. Ownby holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Western Michigan University, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he later served as Adjunct Professor of Percussion. His performance credits include The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mary Wilson, Martha Reeves, and Elton John. He has also performed with the Nevada Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Pops Orchestra, Nevada Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Henderson Civic Symphony, The Las Vegas Percussion Quartet, The Fremont Street Percussionists, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, and the World Champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Ownby’s awards include National Finalist in the MTNA Collegiate Recital Competition in Washington D.C., and D.C.I. Solo Multiple-Percussion World Champion. Recent international highlights of his career include Guest Artist Performances in Mexico City in 1997 and 1999.

Matt Ownby is active as a clinician, composer, marching percussion arranger, and Adjudicator for the Drum Corps Midwest Judges Guild. Currently, he serves as Assistant Director of Bands at Novi High School in Michigan and is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
