Sebastián Trejos Mejía

Pereira - Colombia, 1991. Percussionist, drummer, arranger and composer. Bachelor Degree in Music from the "Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira”. He has worked in research projects, arranging and composition for symphonic band, percussion instruments (soloist and ensemble), camera and popular ensembles. Sebastián has also played a role as a music educator since 2013. 

In 2010, he won the mention of “Young Cultural Pride” by the “100% Colombian Creative Organization”. In 2012, with support from the Colombian Ministry of Culture, he published "Ensamblados" (Didactic method for symphonic percussion ensemble), also published in Madrid by the Spanish publishing house “Editorial Académica Española” in 2017. In 2013 he performs the "Artistic Residence Colombia - Argentina" with the support of the Ministry of Culture and publishes the suite "From South to North" for percussion ensemble.

He has participated in several music competitions obtaining important national recognition, such as: second place in the "Contest of unpublished choral work" of the Artistic Corporation “Gustavo Gómez Ardila” (Bucaramanga - Santander). In 2015, winner of "National Contest of Pasillo” (Aguadas - Caldas), winner of the “National Contest of Unpublished Bambuco for Symphonic Band" versions 2015 and 2016 in free and traditional mode (Tocancipá - Cundinamarca), and "Gran Mono Nuñez Instrumental" for traditional Colombian music in 2016 (Ginebra - Valle), among others.

He is currently teaching at the Music Department at the “Universidad de Caldas (Manizales - Colombia) in the area of symphonic percussion. Drummer of the group “Papá Bocó” (Afro Latin Ensemble), and percussionist of the group “Amaretto Ensamble”. In 2017 culminates a "Master's Degree in Music Theory" at the “Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira”, is publishing his works for percussion in the Dutch publishing house “Dutch Music Partners”, and the Spanish Publishing House “Editorial Académica Española”
